Help ForestWatch win $4,000

Please visit Patagonia Atlanta and vote for us!

The folks at the Patagonia Atlanta store have chosen Georgia ForestWatch as one of five local environmental organizations to compete in their Voice Your Choice grant contest. We need all of you members & friends in the Atlanta area to stop by Patagonia by July 19 and vote for ForestWatch.

Grab your friends and head to Patagonia . . .

... And while you're in the store "Voice Your Choice" and vote for Georgia ForestWatch.

You can cast your ballot in the Patagonia store thru July 19, 2008. Though no purchase is necessary, you must be present in-person to vote (no e-mail, mail, or phone voting.)

The organization receiving the most votes wins a $4,000 grant! This grant would really come in handy to support our popular free outings program. Pictured above is a happy hiker on our lovely Long Creek Falls Hike.

On Saturday, July 5, stop by Patagonia and say hi to our outreach director, Lori Martell, who will be in store telling folks all about our work.

And, we'd like to say that all five groups participating in this contest have done extraordinary work for protecting Georgia’s forests, streams and rivers. We count many of these good folks among our best friends and we work closely together on many issues.

Patagonia has chosen to do this contest not to pit us against each other, but to empower regular people like you to have a say in where this particular grant goes. Patagonia store manager Leigh Bost explains it like this, “Our Voice Your Choice program has two purposes: helping local organizations continue the important work of restoring and protecting the local environment, and raising public awareness about the various environmental projects taking place in the community. There are so many worthy recipients that we are asking the local community’s help in selecting the honoree.”

The campaign is an extension of Patagonia’s corporate Environmental Grants Program, which has generated more than $31 million in grants since 1985 through a policy of giving 1% of annual sales to environmental organizations worldwide.
