Learn about the many medicinal trees growing in our region during an informative lecture by Patricia Kyritsi Howell, author of Medicinal Plants of the Southern Appalachians.

Patricia is a medical herbalist, long-time ForestWatcher and tree hugger. She'll weave together history, folklore and recent medical research to give you new insight into familiar trees such as dogwood, wild cherry, sumac, and others.

Following the lecture, Georgia ForestWatch co-district leaders, Honor Woodard and Joe Gatins will lead an easy hike to identify these trees in the field.
