Hike: Intro to Georgia ForestWatch
Sign up today!
Learn more about how we watch your national forests while strolling through the woods with Co-District leader Joe Gatins.
We'll get up close and personal with the lovely Holcomb Creek & Ammons Branch falls, two of the more impressive cascades in Rabun County. This hike, by request, also will serve as something in the way of a short course in Georgia ForestWatch 1.0, a basic guide about what we do and why we do it.
The trail goes through a stand of some formerly impressively large eastern hemlocks. We also will have an optional stop on the way home to see a high-elevation bog recently restored with the help of ForesWatch volunteers. Details are below.
